Resolving disputes on Debrides is easy, and Jake Ambler (still weak from his bout of foulbrood) finds himself enjoying flying around the planet and resolving disputes among the Coleons, creatures of astonishing variety in terms of size, shape and ability.

Debrides is the home of The Exchange, the hub of all financial activity in Bug Space, so critical to the viability of exopreneurial activity in the area that not even the ruthless Corporate would dare try to corrupt it. The staid Coleons devotion to everything they do is so thorough, nothing ever goes wrong. Even their wars are tightly scheduled!

An explosion or two in a sewer, a battle going on too long, occasional errors in The Exchange, and Jake is in the middle of it all.

So much so that the newly formed Exopreneur League becomes suspicious. As do the Coleons. As friends turn their back on him, and loved ones are imperiled, Jake finds himself alone and becoming the Most Hated Man In the Universe.

The key to the riddle may be the mysterious cult known as The Wingless, an organization whose beliefs and objects are not known, but which has a reach beyond the stars.

Jake must risk everything to unravel the mystery before The Exchange collapses and throws the galaxy into chaos and war!
